Shoulder Screws
Socket shoulder screws—also called shoulder bolts or stripper bolts—combine a precision, smooth shoulder with a threaded tip and hex socket drive. In manufacturing environments, that shoulder acts as a built-in dowel and bearing surface, giving you accurate alignment and controlled movement in one fastener. This makes shoulder screws a go-to for tool & die, fixture building, automation, and general machine design where repeatability matters.
Ordering & Sizing Guidance
Shoulder screws are sized differently than standard cap screws. You specify:
- Shoulder diameter
- Shoulder length
- Thread size
Example: 3/8x1-1/4 Soc Hd Shoulder Screw (5/16-18 nc thrd): Means a 3/8" shoulder diameter, 1-1/4" shoulder length, and 5/16/18 thread.
Need a specific shoulder length for a die build? Our fastener team can help and keep your tooling program supplied through VMI, multi-bin, or kitting programs.
