Flange Nut

Flange nuts have a washer base that increases the surface area. They are generally used where the speed of the assembly is important such as high volume or an assembly line. With this application a washer is not needed. Serrated flange nuts are design for application where vibration is present. The serrations grip the bearing surface increasing the torque required to loosen the assembly.
