Tee Nuts
Tee nuts (also called T-nuts or pronged nuts) are threaded fasteners designed to provide strong, reusable internal threads in wood, composite materials, and other panel substrates. These nuts have an internally threaded barrel and protruding prongs that seat into a pre-drilled hole to resist pullout and keep the nut from spinning during tightening. American Bolt Corporation supplies tee nuts for manufacturing, woodworking, assembly, and fixture mounting where a reliable threaded insert is needed without through-bolting.
Tee nuts are used when a component needs to be bolted securely to a wood or composite substrate with a clean, finished appearance on the surface.
What Is a Tee Nut?
A tee nut (often spelled “T-nut”) is a nut with a flat base and prongs or serrations that allow it to be embedded into wood or similar materials. Once installed, the internal threads accept bolts or machine screws, creating a strong, reusable threaded connection.
Tee nuts provide mounting points without needing access to the backside of the material, making them ideal for cabinetry, fixtures, jigs, and mechanical assemblies involving panel goods.
