Drop-In Anchors

Looking for a reliable and strong anchoring solution for concrete applications? American Bolt Corp offers drop-in anchors — a type of mechanical anchor designed for secure fastening in solid concrete. Our drop-in anchors are ideal for heavy-duty applications where strength, safety, and performance matter.

Simpson Strong-Tie introduces a redesigned Drop-In anchor (DIAB) that provides easier installation into base materials. Improved geometry in the preassembled expansion plug improves setting capability so the anchor installs with 40% fewer hammer strikes than previous versions.

The HDIA hollow drop-in anchor is an internally threaded, flush-mount expansion anchor designed for attaching threaded rod to support a variety of conduit, cables and lighting. This anchor is ideal for use with hollow base materials such as CMU and hollow-core plank as well as in solid base materials such as brick and both normal-weight and lightweight concrete. The HDIA can easily be installed in both hollow and solid materials with a setting tool.

What Is a Drop-In Anchor?

A drop-in anchor is an internally threaded expansion anchor designed for installation in solid concrete. It’s inserted into a pre-drilled hole and expanded with a setting tool, creating a secure hold for threaded rods, bolts, or other fasteners.

How to Install a Drop-In Anchor

1. Drill a hole in concrete to the specified diameter and depth.
2. Clean out the hole to remove dust and debris.
3. Insert the drop-in anchor into the hole, flush with the surface.
4. Use a setting tool to expand the anchor inside the hole.
5. Install the threaded rod or bolt into the anchor.
